I choose the name Wind Dancer in honor of my daughter, Melissa. I don’t think she could ever walk. She always twirled in and out like the wind, bumping into everything. And somewhere in the course of this whirlwind, she received inspiration to become a dancer. This was a natural fit for Melissa as her energy is continually bursting out of her and her excitement for life fuels her passion. Her natural kindness accompanies everything she does and she is deeply connected to her cultural roots. Now as she boogies her way through her final year at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, her eyes are aimed at the sky and on the lookout for the ray of sunshine that is coming through the clouds. She positions herself directly under this natural spotlight and she can be seen glowing clearly by everyone around her.
Even though this site is a collage of photographs I decided to add the name café. I love to take pictures, especially of people, and being raised in 4 different cities across Canada I have met some incredible people along the way. Besides my mom always said my quick tongue would get me into situations that I would not be able to get out of. I told her I was only being open to new adventures and the people I met would only be mesmerized by my witty intellect. Do I want to admit she was right…maybe this is why she bought me a camera. As a result, the camera became a means of artistic expression for me and an avenue to share experiences with others. And this sharing, over a cup of coffee with friends, is even more special. Moments of happiness, love, connectedness and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling my nostrils I think I am in coffee-saturated heaven... is happiness tasted and time well spent in a café with friends.
... and when I retire I plan to take over (although they do not know it yet) the coffee shop in Tofino, British Columbia and voila, I already have a name for it: Wind-Dancer Café.
